  What does a "ping" mean for me?

What should I do when I receive a "ping"? Somebody calls me or what? I do not see any other information but a message "You received a ping".

It means that somebody has mentioned you in a question, answer, or comment by writing @VladimirKalitvianski.

So this answer should put two entries into your inbox: one that says that your question has been answered and another one that you have been pinged
