How is it decided whether to import an SE question? The current selection looks to me somewhat random.

That the copyright issues are ok should perhaps be mentioned in the FAQ

@Arnold Neumaimer Good point about that, I will do that (and the script for unchecking email me by default) tomorrow, I have noted it down on my table.

I have now mentioned them in the FAQ.

I have a list of research level and interesting questions in physics SE

http://physics.stackexchange.com/users/9444/xiao-gang-wen?tab=favorites

I hope they can be imported to PO.

Also the question taged by topological order in physics SE can be imported into PO.

Hi Arnold Neumaimer, and welcome to Physics Overflow!

All the questions from Theoretical Physics Stack Exchange have been imported, as they fall into the "graduate-level" category.

Most questions from Physics Stack Exchange in high-level tags (like                     some ) which are not  are theoretically eligible for import, and are given priority if they are endangered, very high-level, or spotted early.

There is no more specific criterion at the moment...

Note, also, that not all the questions we need have been imported yet, this should be done by the end of the public beta (starting Friday next week)

Physics Stack Exchange also has quite a number of questions on advanced topics (QFT and beyond).

Isn't there a copyright issue when importing questions?

@Arnold Neumaier see the updated answer, the tags I referred to was the Phys.SE tags.

The copyright issues have been taken care of, since Stack Exchange is CC-by-SA content, and we have attributed them, and are not a commercial for-profit.

In addition to what Dimension10 said, we have (are) also imported (are importing) questions listed here and here in the blog, and some get rather spontaneously imported at present.

The final procedure in the long run will be to list questions that should be imported on the Request for import votes thread, accessible from the top menu bar.

Aside: inappropriate questions (imported or not) can be listed in the corresponding community moderation threads (they mimic the review queues of SE) accessible from the link Moderate in the top menu bar.

The listed questions are also decided by the same criteria, but +1 for pointing out the Requests for import votes and Moderate.

Note also that the links in Moderate are not actually currently working (by design), they will work once we move to our permanent physicsoverflow.org/
