Liu et al. synthesized a novel tumor biotherapy model (Figure 1) by encasing oncolytic viruses (OAs) in liposomes to sustain virus activity in vivo, and conjugating tumor-homing E. coli BL21 with the liposome-sheltered OVs through a biological condensation reaction to form a bacteria-lipo-OAs conjugation. Following the formation of these complexes, they were intravenously injected into mice bearing TC-1-hCD46 xenograft tumors in order to kill tumor cells by OAs in tumor tissues and the inflammatory response prompted by E. coli.
