About:

The scientists who will be able to stare out into the cosmos with NASA's powerful new James Webb Space Telescope will be the ones who were fortunate enough to have their study ideas selected after a very competitive competition.

Those who didn't make the cut this time may click here and be certain that, according to lessons learnt from another renowned NASA observatory, they had a fair chance.

Webb's selection method was meticulously designed to minimize the impact of unconscious biases or prejudices by requiring decision-makers to concentrate on the scientific value of a proposal rather than the person who submitted it.
