  Does the gravitational force exerted by two objects depend upon the medium?

We know that Newton's Law of Gravitation does not involve a medium between the two objects. But imagine two objects experiencing a gravitational force of 10N between them and imagine they come to contact at a time period of 5 seconds(this is happening in air medium). Doesn't the time taken to come in contact increase when the same scenario happens in a denser medium, say oil/mercury?

The force between 2 masses will not change in a denser medium. But the net force on a mass might change because the medium might also exert force on these 2 bodies. If we assume that the medium is very large and isotropic and homogeneous then the net force on any of the 2 bodies is zero due to the medium. In this case, the net force on bodies doesn't depend on the medium.
