  Very slow connection from China

I experienced the severe slowness of connecting PO(and also SE, Quora etc. but the connection to PO seems to be the worst) in China at different places, and I got similar feedbacks from some other users in China. Is there a way to check precisely what the issue is, and if the problem is a solvable one from our side?

If I remember this correctly, @Polarkernel once had a device to globally survey the connectivity?

I use Pingdom to check our server but unfortunately, only servers in Europe and US are used to test the response time (which is actually at an average of about 800 ms). There exists a test site to compare between Chinese and Non-Chinese locations here. Unfortunately, the test from Shanghai timed out, while from New York, the response time was 1.303 sec. There seems to be an issue from the Chinese net. I am sorry, I can't do anything for you.

@polarkernel, that's a pity, but at least it's clarified, thank you.

I really hope that this is just a technical issue on the Chinese part of the network, that will get fixed reasonably soon ...

@Dilaton, doesn't seem like so. I've collected some more information from more Chinese students, it seems to have something to do with the infamous Great Fire Wall. However interestingly some told me the connection to SE is much better than PO, though still relatively slow.

Does this mean that it will stay like this? Is PO for some reason on some kind of "black-list"?

And if this is the case, can something be done about it?

@Dilaton,i don't think it's blacklisted, it's just super slow, and somehow slower than SE.

Ok, so I hope the issue will pass soon ...
